Reference numbers and camt.053: payments that match themselves
The Estonian 7-3-1 check digit and an ISO 20022 statement turn arrears tracking into an automatic process.

A reference number is not just a number
The Estonian reference number uses the 7-3-1 weighting algorithm to derive a check digit. When it is right on the invoice, the bank knows which invoice a payment belongs to. So does your application.
The statement in machine-readable form
ISO 20022 camt.053 is the XML standard for bank statements. Every major Estonian bank offers it in online banking. Import the file and payments match to invoices by reference number.
An idempotent import
Importing the same file twice creates no duplicates, because each transaction carries a unique identifier and already-processed rows are skipped. You can import without worrying.
What stays manual
Some payments arrive without a reference or in the wrong amount. Those land in an unmatched list where you can point them at an invoice or record them as a partial payment.
Export for the accountant
Invoices and payments export as CSV or as Estonian e-invoice XML (e-arve 1.2), which every common accounting package imports.
